The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions are both coming off wins in Week 3, and when the two teams meet Sunday afternoon, first place in the NFC North will be on the line. NFL experts from around the country are split on who will win, with a slight majority favoring the visiting Bears.
Out of the 13 analysts at ESPN, nine of them pick Chicago. The Bears are 3-0, coming off a 40-23 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. Pittsburgh actually gained 459 yards in that game to just 258 for Chicago, but the Steelers were set back by five costly turnovers. The Bears took care of the ball and avoided unforced errors.
Over at CBSSports.com, five out of eight experts are going with the Lions at home. Detroit beat the Redskins by seven last week in Washington behind two touchdown passes from Matthew Stafford. The Lions' lone loss this season came the week before on a one-yard touchdown run from Arizona's Rashard Mendenhall with under two minutes to play. Detroit's offense will undoubtedly get a boost on Sunday when running back Reggie Bush returns from a knee injury. Bush sat out against Washington.
Frank Schwab and Les Carpenter are the two who have made picks at Yahoo! Sports, with Carpenter choosing the Bears and Schwab picking the Lions.
Our SB Nation team has sided with Carpenter for the most part. Four out of five of our NFL writers take Chicago, with Joel Thorman the only one who thinks Detroit will protect its home field.
Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET Sunday from Ford Field.
