Josh Thomas injury: Panthers CB cleared after concussion

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Thomas missed the team's Week 3 game against the New York Giants with post-concussion symptoms.

The Carolina Panthers are expected to have cornerback Josh Thomas back in Week 5 after he missed the team's Week 3 game against the New York Giants with a concussion. On Monday, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reported that Thomas was completely cleared to return to the Panthers lineup.

Thomas, 24, is listed as a starter on the Panthers depth chart and will presumably return to the team's starting lineup for a Week 5 road game against the Arizona Cardinals. A fifth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft of the Dallas Cowboys, Thomas was claimed off waivers by the Panthers in his rookie season after he was released in final cuts.

In 2012, Thomas earned five starts with the Panthers and played in all 16 games for the team, recording seven passes defended and a forced fumble. Through two games in 2013, Thomas has recorded nine tackles.

The Panthers were one of two teams with a Week 4 bye week.
