Opening week of the 2013 NFL season has proven to be a wild one, but there are still two games to be played. Monday Night Football will feature a doubleheader with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins playing the early game before the Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers finish the week with their nightcap.
So far, here's a rundown of every game played thus far:
Denver Broncos 49, Baltimore Ravens 27
When Peyton Manning throws seven touchdowns to tie an NFL record, it's probably going to be a laugher for Denver. It was Thursday night, anyway, as Baltimore stood little chance in the second half after leading 17-14 at the break before giving up 35 points after halftime.
Chicago Bears 24, Cincinnati Bengals 21
The Bengals held a 21-10 second half lead only to watch it slip away. Cincinnati committed three costly turnovers, including two Charles Tillman interceptions -- one being returned for a touchdown. Brandon Marshall caught the game-winning score, adding to his day of eight catches for 104 yards.
Detroit Lions 34, Minnesota Vikings 24
Adrian Peterson rushed for a 78-yard touchdown on the opening play for the Vikings. Unfortunately for the purple and gold, he only gained 15 yards on the next 17 carries to finish his day. Meanwhile, Reggie Bush made a huge impact in his debut, amassing 90 rushing yards and 101 receiving yards.
Indianapolis Colts 21, Oakland Raiders 17
Andrew Luck pulled this one out of the fire for the home team, running for a 19-yard touchdown with just over five minutes remaining. Oakland surprisingly stayed in this game the entire way with Terrelle Pryor causing all sorts of issues. He threw for 219 yards and ran for 112 more in defeat.
New Orleans Saints 23, Atlanta Falcons 17
The Saints were able to secure the win in the Big Easy against their arch-rival in Sean Payton's return. Down six in the final minute, Matt Ryan and Co. had a chance to win. They couldn't score from inside the 10-yard line, however, and on fourth down, Ryan made a desperate pass which was tipped by Kenny Vaccaro into the hands of Roman Harper.
New York Jets 18, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17
Geno Smith threw for 256 yards in his NFL debut and led the Jets back on a last-second drive to set up Nick Folk's game-winning 48-yard field goal. None of Smith's heroics would have mattered if it had not been for the late hit by Tampa Bay linebacker Lavonte David, who put New York in field goal range with only a few ticks remaining.
New England Patriots 23, Buffalo Bills 21
E.J. Manuel played very well against the Patriots in his first career game, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 4th quarter magic of Tom Brady. Getting the ball down one with 4:31 remaining, Brady drove the Patriots to the Buffalo 17-yard line, where Stephen Gostkowski came in and booted the 35-yard field goal for the win.
Tennessee Titans 16, Pittsburgh Steelers 9
After taking a safety on the opening kickoff, the Titans got down to business and dominated the Steelers. The major headline coming out of this game is injuries however,, with Maurkice Pouncey and Larry Foote both lost for the season with a torn ACL/MCL and torn triceps respectively. Tennessee sacked Ben Roethlisberger five times in the victory.
Kansas City Chiefs 28, Jacksonville Jaguars 2
The Chiefs gave up the first two points on a blocked punt, then laid waste to Jacksonville. Kansas City didn't allow the Jaguars to cross their own 40-yard line once until the middle of the fourth quarter. Justin Houston registered three sacks while Alex Smith threw two touchdowns in his Chiefs debut.
Seattle Seahawks 12, Carolina Panthers 7
The Panthers led into the fourth quarter, but couldn't pull off the upset in crunch time. Russell Wilson made the big play in the clutch, tossing a 43-yard touchdown to Jermaine Kearse for what proved to be the final score. Cam Newton did little against the vaunted Seattle secondary, throwing for just 125 yards.
Miami Dolphins 23, Cleveland Browns 10
Ryan Tannehill looked sublime in the opening day victory, completing 24 of 38 passes for 272 yards with a touchdown and interception. The Dolphins only rushed for 20 yards on 23 carries and allowed four sacks. Brandon Weeden had a brutal day, throwing three picks while going 26 of 53 for 287 yards.
San Francisco 49ers 34, Green Bay Packers 28
In a rematch of the NFC Divisional game from last year, the 49ers came out on top once again thanks to a new addition. Anquan Boldin was a beast, hauling in 13 receptions for 208 yards and a touchdown. Colin Kaepernickthrew for 412 yards and three touchdowns, topping the 333 passing yards of Aaron Rodgers.
St. Louis Rams 27, Arizona Cardinals 24
The Rams scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull out the win at home. Newly-acquired Jared Cook paid immediate dividends, catching seven passes for 141 yards and two scores. Carson Palmer threw for 327 yards, but it wasn't enough to earn his first victory as a Cardinal.
Dallas Cowboys 36, New York Giants 31
The Giants played a terrible game, committing six turnovers -- including a pick-six by Brandon Carr to make the score 36-24 with under two minutes remaining. Tony Romo hurt his ribs in the second quarter when he was hit by three members of Big Blue, but he played the second half admirably, throwing for 263 yards overall.
