NFL Combine 2014: Arrivals, schedule and preview for Day 1

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Combine opens Wendesday with the arrivals of kickers, specialists, offensive linemen and tight ends. Though not the sexiest group, it features more than a handful of future first round draft picks.

Day 1 of the 2014 NFL Draft will begin Wednesday with the arrival of kickers, punters, specialists, offensive linemen and tight ends. The group would probably be considered the least "glamorous" by most, hence the mid-week arrival, but a significant number of first-round prospects will be making among those checking in.

The offensive tackles will be considered the stars of the group. Foremost is Texas A&M's Jake Matthews, who has been projected as a top 5 overall pick in a few of SB Nation's latest mock drafts. Behind him, Auburn's Greg Robinson has been a fast mover up draft boards, and is aiming to sneak into the top 10 on draft day. Cyrus Kouandjio, Taylor Lewan and Antonio Richardson are also considered potential Day 1 draft picks.

Texas Tech's Jace Amaro and UNC's Eric Ebron are considered to be the top two tight ends in the draft. Either could ultimately be a first-round selections this May. Ebron is arguably the more explosive athlete at the moment, but Amaro has an edge in physicality. Both are expected to be premier receiving options at the next level.
