Demaryius Thomas has been Peyton Manning's favorite target early in the Super Bowl, and that didn't change on the final drive of the half for the Broncos.
Manning hit Thomas with a big play down the sideline to start the drive, and he also relied on him for the biggest play of the possession. Facing 4th down and 2, the Broncos opted to go for the first down instead of kicking a field goal. Manning threw to Thomas, but the pass was off the mark by quite a bit, so Denver turned it over on downs to end a disastrous first 30 minutes at MetLife Stadium.
Thomas already has been targeted nine times and caught seven passes for 47 yards in the game. Unfortunately for Denver, he's the only Broncos offensive player who has managed to get things going. Manning hasn't had much time in the pocket, and with Richard Sherman shutting down the other side of the field, Thomas has been Manning's favorite target.
The Broncos will now go to halftime down 22-0, their last whimpering drive a microcosm of an ugly first half.
