2014 NFL salary cap set at $133 million

The NFL increased its salary cap for the 2014 season to $133 million after it was set at $123.6 million in 2013.

The NFL officially established the salary cap for the 2014 season at $133 million in a memo to teams on Friday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. That's $9.4 million more than the $123.6 million cap of the 2013 season.

While teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers will still need to make moves to get under the cap, what the additional $9.4 million means for most teams is additional spending room to work with as free agency approaches.

Here is what each team's salary cap situation looks like as of the last day of February. The first column reflects the current cap situation for each team based off the NFL Players Association's report, which still reflects 2013 contracts that are set to expire in March. The second column is a look at the room each team will have under the new salary cap based off projections made by ESPN's Kevin Seifert. which do not reflect moves made this week:

Also released on Friday with the salary cap, were the official numbers for franchise tags for the 2014 season. Teams have until Monday, March 3 to apply the tag that gives players a one-year deal at an established amount for their position if a franchise tender is signed.
