Grigson "would run through a brick wall" for Irsay

The Colts are not worried about dealing with the NFL draft and the rest of free agency without owner Jim Irsay, general manager Ryan Grigson told ESPN.

"When there's big dollars, something major going on, Jim is always right there, but he leaves the football decisions up to me and he trusts me," Grigson said. "He hired me to make football decisions, so I don't see any of that changing. ... If there's something I need to lean on him about in terms of using his football knowledge for my benefit, for the Colts' benefit, I reach out to him, but like I said, he doesn't micromanage me; he lets us all do our job. I don't really see it being an issue."

Irsay was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance last week, and could face between six months and three years in prison if convicted on the four felony counts he faces.

Grigson said he and the team are continuing to show their support for Irsay through this tough period.

"Obviously nothing but great things to say about Jim, he's been magnificent and has done so much for myself, [coach] Chuck [Pagano], the entire building, everyone in the building loves the man," Grisgon said in his first comments since Irsay was arrested March 16. "We all would run through a brick wall for him. We all wish him a full, complete recovery and we're all pulling for him, and I'll leave it at that."

Irsay's daughter will have final say on all team decisions during Irsay's absence.

Irsay tweets appreciation for support

A little more than 12 hours after he was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance, Colts owner Jim Irsay took to Twitter to thank family, friends and others for the support he's received since word broke of his arrest.

Irsay was arrested early Monday morning and charged with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and also charged for operating while intoxicated. According to reports, police found prescription drugs in Irsay's car. Irsay's comment on Twitter came not long after the Colts released a statement about the situation.

While he's been released from jail, there is still a lot to resolve, both legally and with the NFL. In addition to possible legal discipline from the five charges, Irsay could also face punishment from the NFL as owners also fall under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell have yet to make an official statement regarding the arrest.
