2014 NFL Draft order: First round to kickoff with Texans ... probably

The Texans are expected to kick off the first-round draft order for the 2014 NFL Draft on Thursday. Chaos could promptly follow.

The Houston Texans have the distinct honor of heading up the draft order for the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The team has been rumored to be trading away the top pick for months now, but Adam Schefter reported Thursday that it has locked in its pick. Jadeveon Clowney feels like the likely selection, but few would be surprised to see a quarterback -- Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel, perhaps.

What happens after that is wide open. The St. Louis Rams scored the No. 2 overall pick in a trade that sapped a bounty of draft picks from the Washington Redskins in exchange for the right to select Robert Griffin III. They, too, have a mountain of options, including a trade that could be a precursor to a potential avalanche of movement.

If you want an idea of how the draft may unfold, take a look at the final mock drafts of SB Nation's resident experts, Dan Kadar and Matthew Fairburn. Also be sure to look at our latest player rankings and scouting reports from retired NFL defensive end Stephen White for a primer on the biggest names of the draft.

In an especially deep year for talent, the first round has the potential to be as exciting as any in recent memory. Below is the complete first-round draft order as it stands now.
