The wait is over. The Cleveland Browns made their third trade of the first round, moving up to select quarterback Johnny Manziel at No. 22 overall.
The Browns swapped picks with the Philadelphia Eagles, giving up the No. 26 overall pick and their third rounder (No. 83 overall).
It was a long wait for Manziel, who was expected by many to be a top-10 selection. The Browns passed on him once, choosing cornerback Justin Gilbert instead with the No. 8 pick. After watching one team after another pass Manziel up as well, Cleveland finally swung the deal to get back up to grab him.
The Browns have been making more moves than Kevin Costner in the movie Draft Day. They began the day with the No. 4 and No. 26 overall picks, but moved back to No. 9 in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. After that, they jumped up a spot after dealing with the Minnesota Vikings. Many thought that signaled a selection of Manziel, but the Browns turned to Gilbert with the No. 8 pick instead.
That left Cleveland with one more first-rounder, which it used to move up and grab Manziel. All in all, that leaves the team with Gilbert, Manziel and the Bills' 2015 first-round pick after Thursday's action.
