Adrian Peterson was released from a Montgomery County, Texas jail Saturday morning after turning himself in to authorities and being booked on a charge of injury to a child. Peterson posted the $15,000 bail following an indictment by local law enforcement for reports that Peterson disciplined his 4-year-old son with a "switch."

Peterson's attorney issued a statement saying the star Vikings running back had never hid from the charges and had been up front with authorities since the charges became public. The attorney said Peterson will address the charge soon and maintained he never intended to harm his child.
Peterson has already been deactivated by the Vikings for their Week 2 matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday. The 29-year-old Peterson had 75 yards rushing on 21 carries in Minnesota's season-opening win against the St. Louis Rams.
Peterson admitted that he did "whoop" one of his sons last May. A "switch" is a thin branch or rod.
