From the NFLPA's press conference Thursday:
Reporter: "What would you say to the owners contention that you guys signed off on the reallocation letter, and that should basically render the lawsuit null and void?"
DeMaurice Smith: "I guess the first thing I would ask is, 'It doesn't sound like you're denying the existence of collusion, now does it?'"
Wednesday afternoon, 49ers quarterback Alex Smith chatted with the media following practice and was asked about improving the 49ers passing attack. While acknowledging the passing offense had room for growth, Smith made a pointed remark about the need for more yards on offense:
This is the honest truth, I could absolutely care less on yards per game. I think that is a totally overblown stat because if you're losing games in the second half, guess what, you're like the Carolina Panthers and you're going no-huddle the entire second half and, yeah, Cam Newton threw for a lot of 300-yard games. That's great. You're not winning, though.

The NFL doesn't seem to like us focusing on touchdown celebrations considering the restrictions they've put on the players, like eliminating the use of props (which includes a football) and penalizing players who leave their feet.
One celebration that is allowed, though, is Tebowing, and the new "Madden" video game will reflect that.
Last week, EA Sports confirmed that "Madden 13" will include the Tebowing celebration and now video has surfaced of the virtual Tebowing. Check it out below:
Lawrence Taylor gave the Super Bowl ring he won with the Giants to his son, who then placed it on eBay, which drew a lot of attention this week. The ring was sold for a reported $230,000 but that's not the real story here.
The real story is that actor Charlie Sheen was the buyer, according to what LT's agent has been told. Via Jay Glazer:
Got no idea if this is true but if is it's hilarious. Lawrence Taylor & his agent Mark Lepselter were told last night winning bidder for LT's Super Bowl Ring was none other than Charlie Sheen!!!
Of course Charlie Sheen bought LT's Super Bowl ring.
I'm looking forward to the jokes that will come out of this in the comments section.
UPDATE: Some things just have a way of being too good to be true. Turns out the fallen movie star did not buy the fallen football star's Super Bowl ring. Sheen denied the rumors with a Friday morning tweet:

The lockout is over but the NFL and NFLPA keep on disagreeing on, well, everything. Larry Fitzgerald has an idea on how to settle their differences.

Let's be honest: Goodell would probably take care of business. He has a major height and weight advantage. But Smith does come off as a scrappy fighter who wouldn't go down easily (as the NFLPA lawsuit has shown us).

Pep Hamilton is no longer the Stanford Cardinal's offensive coordinator. He's now technically the Andrew Luck Director of Offense (no, for real), after an anonymous donor endowed the position in honor of the former Heisman Trophy finalist and No. 1 draft pick.
It's a pretty fitting choice, both because Luck called plenty of his own plays at the line of scrimmage last year and because Stanford donors have every reason to remind people that Luck played there. And in every Stanford game this fall, an announcer will mention the Andrew Luck Director of Offense. Hey, remember Andrew Luck?
Others from SB Nation and I attended the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles and one of the events over the weekend was a flag football game featuring celebrities and former players. My story on the event will talk about some of the former players in attendance -- Jeff Blake, former Bengals QB, was a blast from the past -- but someone else from the SB Nation network was there and comes away with a story much more impressive.
Chris Cooley has been rehabbing a knee injury for a few months now, and Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has commented a couple of times on his progress. Now we have some photo evidence of what Cooley's doing in his downtime, courtesy of Mr. Irrelevant:
