The Steelers released RB Jason Ford despite a solid effort against Indianapolis in the team's second preseason game.
Preseason may not count for anything, but the results are still apparent. This defense is showing both the desire and the ability to cause turnovers. And that's what the 2008 team did, causing 29 of them en route to a 12-4 overall record.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told the media today RG David DeCastro will have surgery on his right knee Wednesday, fueling speculation the rookie will miss the remainder of the 2012 season after three preseason games.
With the release of 15, the Steelers took one step closer toward its final roster of 53 players.
The Buffalo Bills continue to avoid the injury bug through their preseason contests.
Pro Football Talk cited a source claiming the expectation for David DeCastro is his knee injury will keep him out for three to five months, which would essentially be late into November, or perhaps just healthy enough for the conference championship

Per Schefter, DeCastro tore his MCL, which was previously reported, and suffered some damage to his patella tendon (knee cap), but the ACL itself is still intact.
David DeCastro's injury was obviously the high(low)light of the Steelers' injury report, but DE Brett Keisel (ankle) and RB Isaac Redman (stinger) suffered injuries as well. Keisel left the game and didn't return although it's not said to be serious.
The Buffalo Bills' defense had allowed 96 yards prior to the two-minute warning. By halftime, that number was doubled as was the Steelers' point total.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger told NFL Network Saturday night FieldTurf is "just killing guys because they can't get their feet out of the ground, and it's just another reason we should get rid of FieldTurf."
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Sunday morning, Steelers RG David DeCastro has a torn MCL, but the team isn't sure at this time whether his ACL is also torn.
