Look, maybe you didn't believe Janoris Jenkins was a Top 10 talent when he was first drafted, by the St. Louis Rams, in the second round as their default High Risk High Reward guy. Maybe his interception of Matthew Stafford in Week 1 didn't even turn your opinion of him around. But what if I told you... that he had his own article in The Onion? It's true: After months of hard work and dedication, Janoris Jenkins has finally arrived: America's finest news source is joking about his promiscuity.

The article, in which Janoris Jenkins claims to skeptical teammates that he totally got laid midway through his interception return—by a super-hot, super-down-and-dirty babe—is only a one-paragraph brief, but Jenkins is only a week into his NFL career; it's important, as we've said all along, to be patient as he develops the ability to cover NFL wide receivers and also appear in satirical news articles about his sexual proclivities.

One game, one interception, one The Onion article—whatever your opinion of the pick back in April, it's hard to argue that Janoris Jenkins isn't off to a fine start.

In the 2012 preseason, Janoris Jenkins was hyped about as much as a member of the St. Louis Rams whom people can't draft directly in fantasy football could possibly be hyped. After an intermittently successful preseason, all the hype received a Week 1 boost in the first quarter of their matchup with the Detroit Lions: Janoris Jenkins, with seemingly the entire Rams secondary keying on Calvin Johnson, intercepted Matthew Stafford near the Rams' goal line and ran it out toward midfield, keying a sputtering Rams drive that nevertheless ended with a 48-yard Greg Zuerlein field goal.

So for now, at least, Janoris Jenkins has made a payment on that First Round Talent In The Second Round Homeric epithet he's been tagged with since April. It's good news—especially if the Rams want to stay in the mix with the Lions, who plan on throwing the ball another 30 to 40 times if last year's Scott Linehan-led offense is any indication.

Janoris Jenkins Expectations Sky High Before St. Louis Rams Even Finish Preseason

So much for being patient with Janoris Jenkins. The St. Louis Rams drafted Jenkins, the prototypical high-risk-high-reward guy, in the second round because he had numerous character issues that kept teams away from drafting him in the first round, where some people rated his talent. People were reluctant to draft him in the first round, but now that the Rams have done it—and despite their arguments with Jenkins over his contract—everyone seems ready to believe he's a first-round talent.

He's officially become the breakout star of the Rams' training camp, the future of their defense, the possible defensive rookie of the year. It's very exciting, and it's plausible, because Jenkins did have that proverbial first-round talent.

But this is a guy the Rams didn't appear to trust with his own money a month-and-a-half ago, and he hasn't played a regular season game yet. The Rams gave up a shocking amount of points a year ago, have completely replaced their coaching staff, and have already lost their defensive coordinator to a once-in-a-lifetime scandal.

So it might be worth cutting back on the Pro Bowl touts, at least until he's picked up his first regular season interception.

Which St. Louis Rams Rookie Repulsed You The Least Sunday?

The St. Louis Rams' 38-3 preseason-opening loss to the Indianapolis Colts is in the books, and while it might have just felt like another Rams game by point 30 it was also your first chance to see the Rams' haul from their supersized 2012 NFL Draft in action. Unfortunately, kicker (and No. 171st-overall-pick) Greg Zuerlein was the only one who got on the board, though I think it's fair to say that the loss wasn't exactly their fault.

So who impressed you most, in their limited action? Isaiah Pead was the player I was most excited to see, given his status as the Rams' running back of the future, but he got off to a very shaky start before moderating late. After that, you got reasonably sized looks at WR Chris Givens, CB Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson, and DT Michael Brockers, at least, in addition to Zuerlein, even if there wasn't quite as much Brian Quick as I was hoping for after Danario Alexander fell off the bottom of the earth again.

St. Louis Rams Need Big Defensive Season As Sam Bradford, Offense Regroup

The St. Louis Rams aren't going to score a lot of points in 2012. I think they've built their offseason around making that fact clear to people. Their big acquisition at wide receiver was Giants Steve Smith, they drafted two projects and a backup running back to shore up the skill positions, and they didn't exactly solve all those offensive line problems, much as signing Scott Wells will help. The offense won't be a disappointment so long as Sam Bradford appears to make some progress in his third season. The defense, though--well, I'm sorry for Chris Long and company, but they have actual expectations to deal with.

The Rams have spent the last two years building up a defense that looks young and positively competent going into 2012. On the line, Chris Long's had two excellent seasons in a row and Robert Quinn and Michael Brockers look like long-term building blocks. At linebacker James Laurinaitis appeared at times to have been airlifted in from a much better team, with a real coaching staff. And in the secondary, where the Rams were a terrible combination of injured and awful last year, they've added Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins.

A lot of resources have gone into the defense, and it'll be up to them to take some pressure off an offense that won't be ready to stand up for itself at the start of the 2012 season. But I guess that's exactly how Jeff Fisher would want it.

2012 NFL Draft: Michael Brockers Should Shore Up St. Louis Rams' Awful Run Defense

When, with the No. 14 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams selected DT Michael Brockers, a lot of draft pundits were surprised—and some of them, though not us, were a little disappointed. But whatever you think of Brockers in particular, one thing is true in general: The Rams' run defense was awful last season, and Brockers won't have to do too much to be an improvement.

Last year the Rams allowed an average of 4.8 yards per carry on defense, 28th in football, and that came on 510 attempts—the third-most in the NFL. Those 27 touchdowns and all that chewed-up yardage went a long way toward the Rams' 407 points allowed.

Brockers has been knocked for his pass-rush performance in college, but with Robert Quinn and Chris Long on the edges they might not require much of that from him. If he can keep the NFC West's running backs from consistently eating clock and football field five yards at a time, he'll be a year-one success.

NFL Draft 2012: Janoris Jenkins Is St. Louis Rams' Second 2nd Rounder

The St. Louis Rams proved once and for all that Steve Spagnuolo's four pillars were dismantled at the 2012 NFL Draft Friday, selecting cornerback Janoris Jenkins from North Alabama with the second of their three second-round picks. Jenkins has done nothing but worry NFL teams with his character problems since arriving on the college football scene, getting arrested and tased in a barfight; arrested for drugs multiple times; and generally doing all the things you'd get mad at a regular human being for doing.

Of course, that means that if the Rams can keep Jenkins from fighting barflies and keeping his marijuana where the police can find it they might have gotten a Top 10 pick here in the Top 40. But I'm not sure this was a risk worth taking with Cortland Finnegan already locked up to a major long-term contract; why devote so much in the way of resources to two cornerbacks?

I'd have liked to see an offensive lineman here—I'll miss you, Jonathan Martin—but there is a high reward to go with the obviously high risk of taking Janoris Jenkins. Click here for SB Nation's scouting report.

Janoris Jenkins Arrested For Marijuana Possession In Downtown Gainesville

Florida Gators junior CB Janoris Jenkins was arrested for possessing what police are calling a small amount of weed Saturday night, according to the Palm Beach Post's Gator Bytes blog. This will be Florida's first Fulmer Cup score of the post-Urban Meyer era, an era that was very fruitful as far as off-field endeavors went. Welcome to Gainesville, Will Muschamp!

Jenkins could've joined fellow Gators defensive backs senior Ahmad Black and junior Will Hill and entered the 2011 NFL Draft, but elected to stick around for his senior year. He'll be expected to provide most of the experience in Florida's secondary in an SEC East that features Aaron Murray, Stephen Garcia, and Tyler Bray. Last year he tied for second on the team behind Black in interceptions, with three. He also returned punts for much of the year.

This is at least the second time Jenkins has been arrested during his time at Florida.
