Evidently, no one really knows how Spence will recover from his unfortunate injury. Not even the Steelers coaching staff, who is trying to build a defense around him.
A source close to the team says the Steelers are quietly optimistic about the health of LB Sean Spence, but will draft LB Michael Mauti at some point today.
There are reports of 13 different draft-eligible players having visited with the Steelers over the last week. The vast majority are linebackers, and with 17 picks left, the Steelers could be showing their intentions for this draft.
Post-Gazette reporter Gerry Dulac confirmed via Twitter Friday what was largely suspected; rookie LB Sean Spence tore multiple ligaments in his knee, and will be placed on injured-reserve, ending his 2012 season.
