While we await some news on the Kansas City Chiefs mandatory minicamp today, I wanted to take a step back in time for a quick glance at mandatory minicamps of years past. Whenever I hear mandatory minicamp I always think of that offseason leading into the 2009 offseason.

Jackie MacMullan of ESPN Boston has a really good look at New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and his Monday morning film review sessions, which some players don't exactly look forward to.
At the end of February as free agency was starting, word came out that the Kansas City Chiefs, now under GM Scott Pioli's control, had traded for LB Mike Vrabel. A few hours later, news started coming out on more details of the trade -- QB Matt Cassel was included.

The NFL lockout is expected to end sometime within the next few days and at some point shortly after that we're also expecting a period in which teams can re-sign their own free agents. Reports have suggested this would be something like an "exclusive three-day window" to re-sign their own guys.
When did former Kansas City Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel know he was going to retire? He didn't make the final decision until Monday morning when he made the official announcement but he tells ESPN Radio in Dallas that he had an inkling after the Chiefs playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens that he may have just played his last game.
