Right tackle Jon Jansen was released by the Redskins earlier today, and already the Lions have made their move by agreeing to a one-year deal with the former Michigan Wolverine. The deal will become official if Jansen passes a physical on Monday. Assuming that happens, Jansen would join the roster to compete with Gosder Cherilus at the right tackle position. Regardless of who wins the starting job, Jansen brings added competition to the team, which is always a good thing. If Jansen were to start at right tackle, it would be a flashback for Michigan fans, as he and Jeff Backus were teammates at U-M.

In other news, the Lions released fullback Jon Bradley today. Bradley was signed in 2007 and was out all of last season with an injury. Rookie Jerome Felton did a nice job in Bradley's place, and with Terrelle Smith now on the roster, the Lions really didn't have a need for Bradley any longer.
