As you know, I've been on the Jenny McCarthy/Brian Urlacher beat since it was first announced they were together and all the way through that time McCarthy texted a nudy pic of herself to her son's dentist. I even went as far as to give them a power couple name I just made up five seconds ago: Brenny McLacher. Hmm. That sounds like a name some hipster single mom would totally name her kid. How about... Jian Urthy. Whatever. Moving on.

Well, today, it all ends. (Never forget.) It has been reported Chicago's First Couple has broken up. There are no words. Just Pouty Jay Cutler. Sad Jay Cutler. And Distraught Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler is really taking this hard. McCarthy's total B.S. statement following the jump.

"Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship," McCarthy told People in a statement on Thursday. "I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him. Go, Bears!"

Yuck.

You know what Brian Urlacher's biggest cheerleader would do? Not break up with him after a knee surgery. Brian Urlacher's biggest fan would nurse her man back to health like -- I can do this! -- Kristin Cavallari nursed poor, broken down Jay Cutler. Jenny McCarthy, you can learn a thing or two from -- I am doing it! -- Kristin Cavallari.

Who knows, maybe Jim Carrey and McCarthy can get back together some time soon so he'll stop making shitty movies. One can only hope.

Brian Urlacher Has Knee Surgery, Chicago Bears' Super Bowl Chances Hang In Balance

Perhaps an offseason spent on the sideline and a week's worth of missed training camp practices in Bourbonnais meant surgery for Brian Urlacher was always inevitable. But as the news hit Tuesday afternoon that the Chicago Bears' star linebacker had undergone what the team Twitter account called an "arthroscopic debridement procedure on the left knee", a jarring aftershock was still triggered around the city. Suddenly, the Bears' Super Bowl aspirations feel increasingly fragile.

The Bears boast a talented roster coming into the season, but they're far from the only team in their conference who can make that claim. Just in their own division, the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions could easily win double-digit games. The NFC East has the reigning champion New York Giants and the exciting-as-all-get-out Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints and Falcons are tough in the South, the San Francisco 49ers are a trendy Super Bowl pick coming out to the West. The point: yeah, the Bears are good, but so are lots of other teams. The NFC could come down to whoever stays the healthiest. It isn't a comforting sign the longtime face of the franchise is already banged up to a significant degree just weeks before the season starts.

The Bears are saying Urlacher's goal remains unchanged: he wants to play Week 1 vs. the Indianapolis Colts. Is it feasible? Who knows. It certainly seems difficult to imagine Urlacher being out there at the height of his powers just three weeks after knee surgery, no matter how "non-invasive" the team claims the procedure was.

Urlacher suffered the injury during the Bears' Week 17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings and did not participate in OTA workouts this offseason. He practiced in the beginning of training camp before his knee became sore and eventually sidelined him again.

As I noted after covering the Bears on Sunday in Bourbonnais: it's the only storyline at camp anyone cares about. For over a decade, the Bears have gone as far as Urlacher's taken them. This surgery is such a sobering blow.

Brian Urlacher On New Knee Brace: 'It Drives Me Nuts'

Brian Urlacher didn't need to have surgery this offseason to repair two sprained ligaments in his left knee, but the linebacker can still feel the lingering effects of the injury, suffered in Chicago's regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings last season. Urlacher sat out Chicago's off-season OTA workouts while he recovered, but has been on the practice field for the Bears throughout training camp. Urlacher is now equipped with a 13 oz. knee brace that the 34-year old admitted has been a process getting used to.

Here's what Urlacher told ESPN Radio on Wednesday:

"It drives me nuts," Urlacher said of wearing the brace during training camp while on the "Waddle and Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I’ve never worn a brace on any part of my body my whole career. It’s weird to wear, but I wore it this summer when I did my running drills. I feel comfortable with it on.

"I just like how the way it feels. The way my knee is right now, I’ve gotten use to wearing it. I don’t see me taking it off anytime soon."

Urlacher finished with 102 tackles and three interceptions for Chicago last season.

Now the Bears have to prove they're worthy of the substantial hype but not before it continues to grow to deafening levels.

The regular season over-under totals in Vegas are also suggesting Chicago could be a force. Grantland's Bill Barnwell points out today the Bears are pegged at nine wins at the Aria. A bet on the under is currently +130.

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher is ready for training camp. The veteran sprained his left knee during the Bears' Week 17 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Though the injury didn't require surgery, Chicago choose to keep the star out of offseason activities. Now Urlacher is back and set for action in Bourbonnais, and he likes what he sees.

Urlacher echoed sentiments already shared by many of his teammates as the Bears arrived in training camp: there is a noticeable amount of talent here, maybe more than the Bears have had in a decade or two.

"I think we have the talent now to reach our expectations," Urlacher said. "We're stacked at every position. As a team, we've got to be more consistent on both sides of the football. Defensively, that's all I'm worried about, being good against the run and the pass. Getting sacks, turnovers ... we've always done since Lovie's been here.

"Offensively, I think we'll be able to run the football. They'll be able throw with Brandon (Marshall). If we just protect our quarterback, we should be all right."

It's, of course, the addition of Marshall that has people most excited. For a team that was 7-3 last season before quarterback Jay Cutler went down with a broken thumb, expectations are as high as they've been in recent memory.

Brian Urlacher Wants To Play More 2-3 Years, Will Enter Free Agency For First Time After This Season

Expectations are sky-high for the Chicago Bears following an offseason that finally saw the team add a big, dynamic threat in the receiver game in the form of Brandon Marshall. But while everyone is excited to see what Jay Cutler and the offense can do, it's the health of the highly paid veteran starters on defense that may truly determine if Chicago's Super Bowl aspiration come to fruition. There isn't much depth behind Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman and Julius Peppers, and every one of those players is on the wrong side of 30.

Urlacher injured his left knee in the final game of last season and it has caused him to miss all of the Bears' offseason workouts thus far. The team and the player have vowed all along that No. 54 will be on the field when training camp opens, and Urlacher only reinforced it during an interview with ESPN Radio 1000 on Wednesday. The linebacker also said he plans to play 2-3 more years and enter free agency for the first time in his career at seasons end.

Urlacher on how long he wants to play:

"I always say (I want to keep playing) two to three more years. It all depends on how I play on the field, because if I don't play good enough, nobody is going to want me. But if I keep playing well and at a high level, then two to three more years at least, I think."

Urlacher on his future in Chicago:

"I want to be here, no doubt about that," Urlacher said. "(Bears president and CEO) Ted Phillips said at the NFL owners meetings that they are going to wait until the season is over to address my situation. That's the mindset I'm taking into this. When the season is over, then we'll talk about it.

"I'll be a free agent when the season is over and whatever happens, happens. From everything that Ted Phillips said I'll be a free agent when the season is over. It's a business. That's the risk you take. If you let a player get to free agency, then they can leave. That's their (decision). They can leave if they want to. That's how it goes."

It was not too long ago I reported that Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was dating 90s sex icon Jenny McCarthy. Well, they are back in the news. McCarthy made it public she accidentally texted her son Evan's dentist a naked picture of herself instead of Urlacher. McCarthy's side of the story and a picture of the couple together following the jump

She said on The Wendy Williams Show: 'It's horrific to remember. [My son] woke up and was like, "There's this weird thing on my gum." I saw this abscess sticking out from his gum and I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's disgusting!"

'So I called the dentist and I was like, "This is insane." He's like, "Take a picture and send it to me." 'I went to the bathroom and I was shoving my iPhone in his mouth. I'm taking a picture of it and I'm sending it to the dentist and I sent him a nude on accident! I swear to God!'

The picture was intended for Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, 34.

She added: 'The dentist is, like, 80 years old. I literally screamed at the top of my lungs. Is there an app? Like, "Uh-oh! I Effed Up!" '

Why does this not happen to me ever? I am constantly getting texted or emailed by moms all the time for baseball and not ONE has happened to send me booby shots of themselves. I find this grossly unfair. Come on, Karma, I've been good lately. Reward me with some naked texts. Okay?

I guess it's not really that big of a deal in this case considering a quick Google search of McCarthy will result in, like, 7 million shots of her naked. Then again, if this guy is 80 and as technology challenged as McCarthy seems to be, maybe this is his first time seeing her warlocks. And if that is true, this incident was kismet. Everyone should see Jenny McCarthy naked at least once before they die. And that day may be coming soon for Dr. Old Balls D.D.S.

Brian Urlacher Is Dating Jenny McCarthy, OMG You Guys!

I went to school at Miami (OH) University. There's a long standing tradition in Oxford that students name the houses they're living in. Names like Pen15, (Un)planned Parenthood (next to Planned Parenthood, natch) and Absolut Angels were common. I lived in a house next to a Best Western. Paris Hilton's sex tape had also been recently released, so we figured The Paris Hilton was a natural fit. (Our slogan: Come for our Eiffel Towers, bubble baths and showers.) Brian Urlacher was also dating Paris Hilton at the time, so one of my roommates got the following autographed picture from his uncle for Christmas.

Awesome. Urlacher is back at it again. And by back at it again, I mean dating a pseudo-famous blond best know for being naked on camera. This time, it's Jenny McCarthy. Video of McCarthy admitting to the relationship and discussing her upcoming Playboy spread following the jump.

When asked to confirm or deny the rumors (I didn't even know there were any. You?) about Urlacher and McCarthy dating, she was short and quick in her response:

"I can confirm that yes it's true, we are dating." [Annoying guy needling for more.] "Go Bears, that's all I can say."

But more importantly, at nearly 40, why, Jenny, why are you heading back to Playboy for one more shoot?

"This is my salute to the milfs."

12-year-old me is officially dead.

VIDEO: Calvin Johnson Presents 'Top 10' On Letterman

After being named Madden '13 cover athlete (and Decepticon), Calvin Johnson is making the media rounds, promoting the game and making the Detroit Lions franchise look good -- I mean really good. Last Thursday, Roger Goodell surprised everyone at the 2012 NFL Draft by bringing Johnson to the podium and having him announce Riley Reiff, the Lions' first round pick. On Friday night, Megatron stopped by the David Letterman show and presented the Top 10 list.

The category was 'Top 10 Pieces of Advice for Young Athletes,' which was obviously relevant with the draft happening. You'll know when to laugh when Johnson laughs and grabs his heart.

London Fletcher Sounds Off On Not Being Named To 2012 Pro Bowl Roster

It's an annual tradition, and it's befuddling every year. The Pro Bowl rosters get announced, and Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, despite a standout season, gets snubbed. Fletcher didn't even make the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement until the last couple years, getting passed over for flashier players.

It happened again in 2011, as Fletcher was passed over for Brian Urlacher and Patrick Willis. This time, Fletcher decided to sound off about it.

Fletcher had plenty of support among his teammates and around the league. Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch reached out directly to tell Fletcher he deserved the honor. Teammate Jarvis Jenkins, though, made the point far better than anyone could.

That pretty much seals it. Brandon Banks, meanwhile, went with a more qualitative approach.

Throw in all the support from local and national media, and it's clear the voters got this wrong. Like Fletcher, I can only laugh. It happens every damn year.
