Flowery Branch, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Falcons defensive back Brian Williams will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, head coach Mike Smith revealed on Monday.
The 30-year-old Williams, who was placed on injured reserve, suffered a right torn anterior cruciate ligament late in the fourth quarter while defending a pass to Chicago tight end Greg Olson in the team's 21-14 win over the Bears on Sunday night. He will need to undergo a complete surgical knee reconstruction, according to Smith.
The North Carolina product had an interception, a fumble return for a touchdown and 18 total tackles in six games since joining the Falcons in early September after he was waived by Jacksonville.
