Ravens place OT Anderson on reserve/retired list

Sports Network | May 13, 2009

Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens placed veteran offensive tackle Willie Anderson on the reserve/retired list on Wednesday.

Anderson, who was signed by Baltimore just prior to the start of the 2008 campaign, played in 14 games last season with 11 starts. With his help, the Ravens' rushing attack scored 20 touchdowns and gained almost 2,400 yards, while allowing quarterback Joe Flacco to throw for just under 3,000 yards and 14 scores.

Once a player is placed on the list but intends to return to the league, the last team for which he plays still retain's the player's rights

As an Auburn product and the 10th-overall pick of Cincinnati back in 1996, Anderson was a stalwart on the Bengals' line from 1996 through 2007.

The 33-year-old made four consecutive Pro Bowl appearances between 2003 and 2006.
