New York, NY (Sports Network) - Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Brown and Cincinnati Bengals kick returner Bernard Scott were selected as the AFC's top players for Week 10 of the NFL season.
Manning earned the offensive award after completing 28-of-44 passes for 327 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in a 35-34 win over the Patriots. The Colts rallied from a 31-14 fourth quarter deficit and scored two touchdowns in the final 2:23 to post the victory.
With the four touchdown passes, Manning now has 12 consecutive seasons in which he has passed for 20 touchdowns, tying Brett Favre for the most all- time. He has also won 18 consecutive regular season games and has led the Colts to a 9-0 record three times in a five-year span.
This marks Manning's 20th career weekly honor -- the most since the award began in 1984. It is his first weekly award of 2009.
Brown took home the defensive award after posting two interceptions in KC's 16-10 win over the Raiders. His second pick came with 38 seconds left as Oakland appeared to be driving for the game-winning score. On the season, Brown has 47 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and four passes defensed.
This is Brown's third career weekly award, winning his first two as a member of the Chicago Bears.
Scott was the special teams player of the week after recording a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Bengals' 18-12 win over the Steelers; it was the team's first kickoff for a touchdown in over two years.
A rookie from Abilene Christian, Scott took home his first career weekly award.
Others considered for the offensive award included KC running back Jaamal Charles, Tennessee running back Chris Johnson, Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Denver wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
Also nominated for the defensive honors were Buffalo safety Jairus Byrd and Colts defensive end Robert Mathis, while Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt was nominated for the special teams player of the week.
