Indianapolis Colts 2009 NFL Draft Review

Analysis: The Colts were one of the worst rushing teams in the NFL last season, with the injury struggles and general ineffectiveness of Joseph Addai ranking as one of the disappointments of the team's year. The selection of Brown should help improve that area, though Indy had a bigger need in its soft defensive front seven that went begging. One of the needs in that area was filled with Moala, a cousin of Ravens d-tackle Haloti Ngata who is viewed as being athletic for his size. Cornerback wasn't seen as a pressing need, but Powers is a Cover-2 type who will add immediate depth. Collie has solid hands and could get on the field as a fourth receiver. Taylor adds further depth to the interior d-line. The local product Painter will have lots of people in the stands when he plays...in the preseason. McAfee won't beat out Adam Vinatieri but could stick as a kickoff guy.

Bottom Line: Brown was a luxury pick and the team didn't improve the offensive line much, but the Colts definitely got better all-around with the picks they made.
