Red Sox executive hired as Dolphins CEO

Sports Network | May 3, 2009

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Mike Dee has left his job as the chief operating officer of the Boston Red Sox to become the chief executive officer of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium.

Dee has spent the past 14 years in Major League Baseball, including the last five years as COO of the Sox.

"The departure of Mike Dee marks a great loss for the Boston Red Sox, and other NESV affiliates," said principal Red Sox owner John Henry. "His rare combination of imagination and ingenuity has helped this franchise reach historic milestones on and off the field. His work with Fenway Sports Group and Roush Fenway Racing were critical to the growth and success of those entities, and his work with every facet of NESV set high standards of excellence across the board."

Dee's responsibilities will include the business development and growth of both the franchise and the stadium, overseeing marketing and sales efforts as well as new initiatives and capital projects.

"I'm thrilled to be able to add someone of Mike's background and expertise to our organization," said Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross. "His accomplishments with the Red Sox greatly expanded their business footprint and amplified the team's standing as one of the premier franchises in professional sports. I know that under his leadership the Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium will continue their position as industry leaders and provide unmatched service and value to our fans and partners."
