Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Joey Galloway.
The Patriots signed Galloway back in March, but he has caught just seven passes for 67 yards in three games this season. He joined New England after a five-year stint with Tampa Bay, when he became the only player in Buccaneers history to record three 1,000-yard receiving seasons (2005-07).
A first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 1995, Galloway has amassed 689 receptions with 10,777 yards and 77 touchdowns in 188 career games with Seattle, Dallas, Tampa Bay and New England.
Additionally Tuesday, the Patriots released tight end Michael Matthews, who they acquired from the Giants in September. He played in three games this season as a reserve tight end and on special teams.
