Recap: Seattle vs. Arizona

Sports Network | October 18, 2009

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Kurt Warner surpassed 30,000 passing yards for his career and led the Arizona Cardinals in a 27-3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field.

Warner finished with 276 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 32-of-41 passing, and now has 30,032 yards through the air for his career. He tied Dan Marino for the quickest to break the 30,000-yard mark (114 games).

Tim Hightower totaled 32 yards and a score on 13 carries, and also had four grabs for 26 yards for the Cardinals (3-2), who won their second straight game. Larry Fitzgerald racked up 100 yards and a TD on a career-high tying 13 grabs, while Steve Breaston had 77 yards and a score on seven receptions. Anquan Boldin had 54 yards on six grabs but left late in the game with an ankle injury. His injury is not considered serious.

Matt Hasselbeck garnered a measly 112 yards with an interception on 10-of-29 passing for the Seahawks (2-4), who have dropped four of five since a season- opening shutout of the Rams. Julius Jones led all Seahawk rushers with five yards on as many carries. John Carlson was the leading Seattle receiver with 55 yards on two catches.

Seattle, which lost linebacker Lofa Tatupu (torn pectoral) and defensive end Patrick Kerney (groin) to injuries, was held to just 128 total yards of offense, including 14 rushing yards. Tatupu will miss the rest of the year, while Kerney is listed as week-to-week. Cornerback Kelly Jennings hurt his left hip in the setback and will be re-evaluated later in the week.

Arizona got on the board with its first possession of the game. The Cardinals drove 80 yards in 15 plays and Fitzgerald closed out the trek, which lasted 10:42, with a two-yard TD catch.

The visitors then recovered an ensuing pooch kickoff and got right back to it. This time the Cards started at the Seahawks 23 and found paydirt three plays later as Hightower ran off right tackle for two yards to make it 14-0 late in the first.

"Obviously excited about the way we played and finished," said Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt. "This is a tough place to play. We made plays in the second half...we played as a team today; it was one of our better games on both sides of the ball."

Neil Rackers and Olindo Mare traded field goals in the second, 29 and 28 yards, respectively, and it was 17-3 Seattle at the break.

Arizona got the ball late in the third at the Seattle 41 thanks to a 36-yard punt return from Breaston and scored five plays later to increase the lead. Breaston hauled in a 16-yard TD pass to give the Cardinals a 24-3 lead with about three minutes left in the frame.

Rackers' 31-yard field goal midway through the fourth accounted for the final margin.

"I told the guys we have a bye week and ten games to go. We are going to keep battling, keep fighting and we will see where this thing ends up," said Seattle head coach Jim Mora Jr.

Arizona moved into a tie with idle San Francisco atop the NFC West...The Cardinals led 14-0 before the Seahawks ran their first play nearly 12 minutes into the first frame...Breaston had five catches for 91 yards and a TD when these teams last met...It was Seattle's fewest points in a home game since 2002.
