Landover, MD (Sports Network) - Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley suffered a broken right ankle during Monday's 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The injury took place on the first play of the second quarter. He was going out for a pass when his ankle seemed to get caught in the field. He was later carted to the locker room.
Head coach Jim Zorn revealed the injury after the game.
"It's on the inner side of his tibia," said Zorn, who added he didn't see the x-ray yet but there would be a better diagnosis Tuesday. "He will be out for a while now until this thing can heal up. I don't know if it's going to be a season-ending injury."
So far this season, Cooley has 29 receptions for 332 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
