Arizona Cardinals

8 - 8

LastEvent

The Arizona Cardinals followed up a magical 2008 season and productive 2009 season with a stinker of a 2010 season. They finished with a disaster of a quarterback situation and the defense was not good enough to help the offensive woes that plagued the team the entire season. Looking forward to 2011, the prevailing thought is that all the Arizona Cardinals need to return to the top of the weak NFC West is decent quarterback play. There are other needs, but fixing that one glaring area of need will put them back into playoff contention and looking at, at minimum, a home playoff game and a chance to get on a roll like they did when they were just minutes away from a Super Bowl Championship. No one will say that with a quarterback alone they will be Super Bowl contenders, but it will get the Arizona Cardinals in the playoff door, which after that anything can happen.

The 2011 NFL Draft went well for the Arizona Cardinals. Their top pick, cornerback Patrick Peterson from LSU, is considered by many as perhaps the best prospect of the entire 2011 NFL draft class. Peterson is one of the most exciting Arizona Cardinals draft picks ever. Although it appears that the team ignored a great offensive line need, a few other picks are getting attention. The selection of running back Ryan Williams in the second round and linebackers Sam Acho and Quan Sturdivant in the fourth and sixth rounds, respectively, are seen as potential draft steals. Additionally, there are many who feel that Robert Housler, whom the Arizona Cardinals drafted in the third round, could be the best tight end of the draft.

In the wake of the current NFL lockout, many of the Arizona Cardinals' players have been working out together regularly. Larry Fitzgerald was the driving force behind the first of the workouts. Whether it is at Arizona State University, Scottsdale Community College or other local gyms, work outs are happening with 20-30 players showing up consistently.
