Miami Dolphins

6 - 10

LastEvent

The Miami Dolphins head into year four of the Jeff Ireland-Tony Sparano era with as much uncertainty as ever surrounding the organization following an offseason that got off to a rather tumultuous start. But despite team owner Stephen Ross's public flirtation with Jim Harbaugh back in January, Ireland and Sparano are back and will look to improve upon their back-to-back 7-9 seasons which followed their improbable 11-5 division championship season in 2008. One more disappointing season, though, and both Ireland and Sparano likely won't be back in 2012 for the Miami Dolphins.

Apart from uncertainty at the top of the organization, the Miami Dolphins face a number of questions heading into 2011. Quarterback Chad Henne has had to listen to constant talk during this offseason regarding his job security. Though the Dolphins didn't draft a quarterback in April, competition is still expected to be brought in via free agency or trade once the lockout is finally over. The team's leading rushers, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, are both free agents and there's a chance that neither one returns to Miami - particularly following Miami's selection of Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Then, of course, there is Brandon Marshall - who was stabbed in the abdomen back in April allegedly by his own wife and had to undergo surgery to clean up the wounds he sustained. Reports indicate that Marshall is fully recovered from his injuries and working out. But it's unknown if the league will take action on Brandon, who already has some strikes against him under the league's personal conduct policy. The NFL has said they are monitoring the situation.

Yes, it's been just another "boring" offseason for the Miami Dolphins. And it's not even over yet. Once this lockout comes to a close, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano have their work cut out for them as they attempt to put together a team that will essentially save their jobs.
