After a mediocre season that saw them quickly exit the 2010 NFL playoffs, the New Orleans Saints are prepared to return to their 2009 Super Bowl championship form in 2011. At their core, the Saints remain a talented team with arguably the best quarterback in the league, Drew Brees, leading the charge.
Though their defense was actually underrated in 2010, the New Orleans Saints did much to improve their situation by stealing defensive end Cameron Jordan in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Also helping shore up any holes on defense are the additions of LB Martez Wilson and CB Johnny Patrick. And if all of that wasn't enough, the Saints stole the show by trading up to grab running back Mark Ingram late in the first round, adding more power to an already dangerous offense.
While the NFL lockout continues and the future of football remains uncertain, the Saints have had one of the highest turnouts of any of the player-organized workouts across the league. Led by Drew Brees and Jonathan Vilma, the team has been consistently meeting and running through drills on Tulane's uptown New Orleans campus. Some of the veteran players have also been watching film with the newly drafted rookies. All of this ensures that when the season actually starts, the Saints won't be caught off-guard and will have the preparation to match their talent.
