Flyers Defeat Rangers 4-1 As Carcillo Likely To Face Wheel Of Justice
In the first matchup between the Flyers and Rangers since the Flyers knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs with a last game shootout, the Flyers found their scoring touch with four goals against Henrik Lundqvist. Flyers goals were scored by Mike Richards, Blair Betts, Nikolay Zherdev, and Chris Pronger. The lone Rangers goal came from Brandon Dubinsky.
The most important talking point coming out of this game though was a third period hit from Daniel Carcillo on Ruslan Fedotenko. Fedotenko was coming across the offensive zone and was in a vulnerable position when Carcillo came headhunting and delivered a devastating hit. The video is below:
While there was no penalty called on the play, the league will definitely take a second look at this play just because of the vulnerable nature of Fedotenko and the fact that Carcillo hit him in the head. What the wheel of justice will determine is anyone's guess.
