VIDEO: NBC's First 2011 Winter Classic Promo; Wait, Which Teams Are Playing Again?

What's the cheesy saying? You play for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back, right? Apparently, the fine folks at 30 Rock have never heard this. And apparently they've never seen Miracle, either, which means we have to question NBC's patriotism now.

In any event, here's the first promo for the 2011 Winter Classic, released Sunday night:

Go Pittsburgh Crosbys! Go Washington Ovechkins!

Can someone please pass along the memo that no matter how hard they try, the NHL will never be able to turn hockey into a star-driven sport like basketball?

Kobe Bryant can take over a basketball game on his own, but no matter how hard Sidney Crosby or Alex Ovechkin or any of the NHL's other stars try, they cannot take over a hockey game single-handedly. The game, at its core, just doesn't allow for that to happen. The NHL's marketing department clearly isn't aware of that.
