Toronto's Mike Brown Suspended Three Games For Blindside Hit On Ed Jovanovski

The NHL changed the rules last year to eliminate "blindside hits" where the "head is targeted or is the principal point of contact." If you'd like to see an example of one of those hits, look no further than last night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Phoenix Coyotes

Mike Brown of the Leafs has been suspended three games by the NHL for his blindside hit to the head of Coyotes' forward Ed Jovanovski, as first reported by Mike Brophy of Rogers' Sportsnet. Check the video of the incident:

Jovanovski didn't return to the ice afterward. This is exactly the type of thing the NHL is trying to rid the game of -- and rightfully so. The puck is long gone when the hit is delivered and the impact is direct to Jovanovski's head.

Enjoy the press box, Mike.
