Ryan O'Reilly Out Two Weeks After Shoulder Injury

Stay connected with SB Nation

Ryan O`Reilly's gonna be just fine. After taking a terrifying tumble (alliteration!) into the boards on Friday night in Minnesota, it turns out he'll only miss about two weeks with a shoulder injury.

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post has more:

"He'll miss a couple weeks, no surgery required," Avs coach Joe Sacco after today's practice. "We're all very relieved and thankful, because it looked worse. The good thing with Ryan, too, is he's young, he's in good shape, and hopefully he can recover here quickly."

There were fears that O'Reilly could miss the rest of the season after the injury, suffered when he clipped the back on an opponent's skate while going full-speed towards the boards. He tumbled and his neck and back took the brunt of the blow, leaving scared onlookers with thoughts of a potentially horrifying injury.

That didn't happen, though, and we're all thankful for that.
