VIDEO: Nathan Gerbe Scores Two Goals In Five Seconds

Everybody has a favorite number that suits them and for Nathan Gerbe, it's becoming clear that his lucky digit is five. Listed as 5' 5" in height, the diminutive center did everything in his power to help the Buffalo Sabres avoid defeat to the New York Islanders. By that, we're referring to the two tallies he collected in a five-second span.

Earlier this season, Alexander Ovechkin struck twice in 12 seconds and Gerbe's pair amazingly occurred in under half the extent of time. One second short of tying the NHL record for quickest consecutive goals, the 23-year-old entered his name into Sabres history by breaking the previous club mark. It's a shame it had to come in a losing cause.
