Official: Jamie Langenbrunner Traded To Dallas Stars

The news is now official. The Devils have traded their captain, 35-year-old right wing Jamie Langenbrunner, to the Dallas Stars for a conditional draft pick in 2011. The team made the news official with a 10:30 a.m. conference call.

General manager Lou Lamoriello announced that the Devils will get a second round pick from Dallas should the Stars advance to the second round of the 2011 playoffs, or if they re-sign Langenbrunner prior to July 1. He's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

If the Stars re-sign Langenbrunner after July 1, the Devils will get the second round pick but they'll also send a third round pick back to Dallas. If he doesn't re-sign in Dallas at all and the Stars fail to win a playoff round, New Jersey will receive a third round pick.

Report: Jamie Langenbrunner To Be Traded Back To Dallas

According to the leading source on Devils news, Tom Gulitti at the Bergen Record, it appears as though Devils' captain Jamie Langenbrunner is heading back to Dallas. The news will be announced with a 10:30 a.m. conference call.

The team did not say the purpose of the conference call, but a source indicated this morning that right wing Jamie Langenbrunner will be traded back to the Dallas Stars.

Bob McKenzie of TSN reported that a conditional third round pick is heading back to New Jersey in the deal. We're not sure what the condition is on that pick.

Langenbrunner began his NHL career with the Stars in 1994, becoming a mainstay in the Dallas lineup in 1996-97. He was traded to the Devils in 2001, where he's been since.

Langenbrunner is just four games shy of 1,000 in the NHL.
