Panthers Vs. Penguins Preview: Game Time, TV Coverage And More

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be missing three of their biggest stars, but are still favorites in their home opener against the Florida Panthers.

Following a three game road trip in western Canada, the Pittsburgh Penguins come home to play their home opener against the Florida Panthers at the Consol Energy Center on Tuesday night. The Penguins are a banged-up team, but started strong with two wins and a shootout loss during their first three games. The Panthers have played just once, defeating the New York Islanders 2-0 on Saturday.

Pittsburgh will still be without three of their best players, though all are expected to return to action shortly. All of Evgeni Malkin, Brooks Orpik and Sidney Crosby will not dress for the home opener because of injury. Malkin and Orpik are both listed as day to day and expected to return to action shortly, while Crosby has not played since sustaining a concussion last season and is believed to be close to returning to contact practice.

The Penguins will still be favorites at home without those three players, but they're not going up against the pathetic Panthers of old. New acquisitions Brian Campbell and Jose Theodore were great against the Isles, and Florida looks like a much better team than in recent years.

Game Date/Time: Tuesday, October 11, 7:00 P.M. ET

Venue: Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

TV: Versus (USA - National), TSN2 (Canada - National), Root Sports (USA - Pittsburgh local)

Announcers (Versus): Dave Strader, Brian Engblom
