The San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks play for the second time this season on Monday night
Just like last season, the San Jose Sharks are off to a slow start. The good news for them is that they won the Pacific Division and comfortably made the playoffs after starting poorly last year, but Todd McLellan likely wants to avoid digging a deep hole that his team needs to get out of. They take on the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, and they've already lost once to their division rivals.
Jonas Hiller was spectacular on October 14, making 31 saves as the Ducks shut out the Sharks to win 1-0. Hiller is looking like he's back to his old form after recovering from an injury, so the Sharks will need to get their top forwards producing. Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau, in particular, have struggled to open the season.
They should be getting some help, though, as starting goaltender Antii Niemi should return on Monday night after sitting out for the first three games of the season.
Game Date/Time: 10:30 pm ET, Monday, October 17
Venue: Honda Center, Anaheim, California
TV: FOX Sports West
Odds: Ducks -210 to win, Sharks +180 to win, Ducks favored by 1 1/2 goals
