The Winnipeg Jets hope to notch their first victory of the season when the host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. They will have to find away to stop hemorrhaging goals first.
Fifteen years later, and the Winnipeg Jets still haven't won a game. They hope to change that Monday when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Winnipeg. They will have to shore up every aspect of their game, however, starting in net, where Chris Mason and Ondrej Pavelec have given up 13 goals in just three games. Not that they've had much help. The Jets had just 19 shots on goal in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.
The Penguins are off to a 3-1-2 start despite the indefinite absence of Sidney Crosby. James Neal has picked up the slack, with five goals on the season tying him for the league lead. Evgeni Malkin, who has missed three of the Pens' last four games with a sore knee, will not be with the team.
Game Date/Time: Monday, October 17, 8:30 P.M. ET
Venue: MTS Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
TV: ROOT Sports Pittsburgh (Penguins Local - Pittsburgh), TSN 2 (Jets local - Winnipeg)
Odds: Penguins -125 to win, Jets +122 to win, Penguins favored by 1 1/2 goals.
