David Jones banged home a rebound 1:11 into overtime and the Avalanche continued their hot start, upending the undeafeated Maple Leafs, who are now 3-0-1. It was the fifth consecutive win for Colorado (5-1), which has not lost since opening night. The Avalanche won by a score of 3-2.
The Leafs did not go down without a fight, scoring with less than five minutes remaining to send the game into the extra period. But Jean-Sebastien Giguere was too much for Toronto, his former team, to overcome. The Avalanche goaltender made 35 stops, including a glove save on the Toronto possession that preceeded Jones' game-winner in overtime.
