The Calgary Flames (1-3-0) are off to a considerably slower start than they had hoped for this year. The good news is that the Edmonton Oilers are in town.
The Flames have won 12 of 13 against their provincial rivals, which includes five straight wins. This could be a different Oilers team, though, as they are looking particularly strong on defense.
Led by the goaltending of Nikolai Khabibulin, the Oilers have allowed just seven goals in their first four games. They've been even better in the two that Khabibulin has started, as he has posted a 0.96 GAA and a .957 save percentage, which has helped the Oilers out to a 2-1-1 start.
Most of the Flames' struggles have come on the defensive side, where they have allowed 14 goals in just four games. Miikka Kiprusoff has not been his normally stellar self, allowing 2.75 goals per game.
