The Buffalo Sabres got the 3-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in part thanks to goalie Ryan Miller stopping 40 shots on goal. Montreal struck first in the second period thanks to a goal by Raphael Diaz, but the Sabres were able to score two late second period goals by Jordan Leopold and Thomas Vanek to take the lead.
The Sabres took control in the third period with Miller stopping everything, then in the final minute of the period Christian Ehrhoff scored an empty net goal that sealed the game 3-1.
The Canadiens were without Mike Cammalleri, who missed his third straight game because of a leg laceration, but he has resumed practicing and is expected to return Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
