The Tampa Bay Lighting edged out the Buffalo Sabres in a close 4-3 game. Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon had 36 saves, which was just enough to slow down the Sabres and hold on to the victory. The teams traded goals in a frantic first period, ending it all tied up 2-2.
The Lighting scored another goal in the second period while Garon blanked the Sabres. In the final period, the teams once again traded goals but it wasn't enough as the Lighting edged it out. Vincent Lecavalier, Nate Thompson, Steven Stamkos, and Ryan Malone all scored for the Lightning as they swept their home-and-home series with the Sabres.
Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller made just 19 saves while Brad Boyes had a goal and assist, and Thomas Vanek and Nathan Gerbe scored for the Sabres in the loss.
