St. Pete Times Forum To Change Names

I understand that Tampa Bay isn't actually a real city, just a body of water, but I always did think it was a little awkward that the Tampa Bay Lightning played in the St. Pete Times Forum. Almost like the Columbus Blue Jackets playing at the Dayton Coliseum or something, even though the Lightning do actually play in St. Petersburg.

But that's all about to change, thanks to a newspaper changing its name.

The St. Petersburg Times is becoming the Tampa Bay Times. Times are a changin' in Western Florida, you know?

Tampa Bay Times is a name that better reflects the newspaper it has become and the region it serves. We have been Tampa Bay's favorite newspaper for several years. We expect that advertisers, readers and subscribers, who might not have been inclined to consider the "St. Petersburg" Times their newspaper, will take a fresh look.

...

The name of the St. Pete Times Forum also will change to reflect the new name.

The Tampa Bay Times Forum, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Up is the opposite of down, black is the opposite of white. It all makes sense now!
