Let's face facts: It's going to be tough for this weekend's NHL Schedule to produce a moment as entertaining as Cal Clutterbuck fighting Max LaPierre and then accidentally punching a referee in the face. But there's still plenty of NHL to watch on the TV schedule or stream online or however you like to get your hockey fix.
Here are some of the top matchups to watch on TV and the Internet this weekend:
Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers at 7 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (NHL Network) The national Game of the Night on TV this Saturday. The Rangers have won two straight games at home and sit at 5-3-3 after a seven-game road trip to start the season. They'll tangle with an Original Six rival Montreal, which has rattled off three consecutive wins after a bleak start to the season.
Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (CBC, NESN) The defending Stanley Cup Champions go up against look to turn their season around against the Northeast Division leader. The Bruins are 4-7-0, but are coming off a win against Ottawa. Boston beat the Maple Leafs 6-2 in the first meeting of the season between the teams. Toronto's Phil Kessel has led the Leafs charge, ranking No. 1 in the NHL in points, goals and plus/minus.
Pittsburgh vs. Los Angeles 10:30 p.m. E.T. on Satuday (ROOT, FS-W) The Penguins won't have Sidney Crosby back for this finale to a short West Coast road trip. Pittsburgh is hurting a little bit right now, dropping the first game out west to to San Jose in OT, the Pens second straight loss. Los Angeles is also reeling and after a hot start are losers of three straight games. One team is going to get back on track on Sunday.
