Anaheim won its matchup with Montreal on Wednesday night, and also found its new coach in Bruce Boudreau.
It was a big night for the Anaheim Ducks, and not just on the ice. The Ducks snapped a seven-game losing streak by downing the Montreal Canadiens, 4-1, but the win was simply a subplot. Following the game, Bruce Boudreau, who just days earlier had been fired by the Washington Capitals, was announced as the Ducks new head coach. Not a bad day for Anaheim fans.
As for the game itself, Anaheim dug itself out of an early hole, answering Andrei Kostitsyn's goal with just 19 seconds left in the first period to knot the game at one. Ryan Getzlaf did the honors, finding the back of the net with an assist from Corey Perry.
From there, it was all Anaheim, and the power play was a big part of the Ducks' success. Devante Smith-Pelly scored the only goal of the second period, putting the Ducks up 2-1 on a power play six minutes into the frame. Two minutes into the third period, Perry made it three one with a power play goal, with Niklas Hagman netting the final goal of the game with just a minute and a half to go.
