Chris Pronger (concussion-like symptoms, close enough)
Additions via readers: Nino Niederreiter, Peter Mueller
These are just players with concussions (or concussion-like symptoms) right now. And it's likely not a complete list, given that we don't know the details of some players with vague "upper-body injuries."
17 players total here, and we very well could have missed one or two. We're also not including guys like Marc Savard and Ian Laperriere, who are still under contract but have had their careers cut short and their lives are still affected by "post-concussion syndrome."
Concussions in hockey are down, right?

I want to know people's legitimate opinions.
Do you blame the rise in concussions on the speed of today’s game or the lack of respect that players have for one and other?

I don’t think it’s either. I think this recent "rise in the number of reported concussions is simply that. 20 years ago, nobody had a good understanding of what a concussion truly was or the effects of them. Today though we know and as a result are tracking them better and being more cautious with those types of injuries.

And I think this is actually a good thing. Teams are finally taking concussions seriously.
