It looked as if the New Jersey Devils were about to even things up in the final minute of a one goal hockey game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night, but just as pressure was building around the Carolina net... well, this happened.
Ilya Kovalchuk is controlling the puck in the corner, and the Hurricanes are not in the best of defensive positions. They have No. 17 hemmed in the corner, but if he can get the puck back up top to Adam Henrique, things will open up for the Devils and a scoring chance is a very real possibility.
But Kovalchuk's pass was just a biiiiiit off, Henrique blew a tire trying to reach for it, and down the ice it went, into the empty net for a goal. It looked as though Canes forward Brandon Sutter may have touched the puck before it reached Henrique, but as it turns out, he did not.
So, credit for the goal goes to the last Carolina player to touch it... goaltender Cam Ward.
