Penguins Vs. Blackhawks: Patrick Sharp Puts Blackhawks Up 1-0 In First Period

The Chicago Blackhawks have gotten the early lead with a Patrick Sharp goal at the 10:07 mark of the first period to give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead. Sharp ended up with the puck on his stick as the Blackhawks moved the puck around well in the offensive zone to confuse Marc-Andre Fleury and the Penguins defense. Sharp's goal was assisted by Jonathan Toews and Niklas Hjalmarsson.

The Blackhawks are outshooting the Penguins 12-6 through the first half of the first period and Corey Crawford is pitching the shutout at the moment, stopping all six shots that he has faced at the moment. This game is going to continue to have scoring in it as both offenses are fairly prolific and can each find the back of the net well. The Penguins are trying to throw the body around, outhitting the Blackhawks 8-7 through the first period.
