The rumors surrounding John-Michael Liles have usually centered around the Toronto Maple Leafs, but those rumors are now dead. Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke reportedly thinks that the price is too high for Liles, only leaving a few teams left in the possible race for the Colorado defenseman.
A team to keep an eye on is the Columbus Blue Jackets. From Columbus beat writer Aaron Portzline:
RT @LoneStranger19: @Aportzline Are TOR / CBJ only 2 teams known to have been/be in on Liles sweeps? / Think BUF is too, and possibly others
The Buffalo Sabres are the other team that could be in play for Liles as they are looking for a true powerplay quarterback. Jordan Leopold has 17 of his 41 points on the powerplay and three of his six goals. Liles has another year left on his contract as well, worth $4.2 million against the cap.
