NHL Trade Rumors: Tomas Vokoun Likely Staying With Florida Panthers

There had been some speculation that Florida was possibly looking into trading their all-star goaltender in Tomas Vokoun. That idea has been quickly squashed by ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

Panthers source says zero traction on Vokoun at this point.... still early thoughless than a minute ago via TweetDeck

Anything is possible at the right price, but it will likely be an expensive price for anyone looking to acquire the goaltender. At the same time, suitors have the upper hand a bit considering Vokoun would be a rental player.

The Panthers only other option in goal, should they trade Vokoun, would be Scott Clemmensen. There's also young prospect Jacob Markstrom.

The market for a goaltender seems to be slim, and it could be thanks to last year's Stanley Cup Final. The two teams that advanced to the Final, the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks, got there with less-than-stellar goaltending in Michael Leighton and Antti Niemi.

Since a Cup can be won with those guys in net, teams with strong defense seem comfortable to stick with what they have at this point.
