Mikka Kiprusoff has three shutouts in the last five games. Seriously. And you were wondering why the Calgary Flames have climbed so high in the Western Conference standings.
Alex Tanguay's first period goal would have been enough for the Flames to top the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, especially thanks to Kipper. But just for good measure, Jarome Iginla added two in the third while David Moss, Robyn Regehr and Niklas Hagman each added one in the third. The Flames rolled, 6-0.
The win bumps Calgary up two more points in the playoff race, and they're now all the way up in fifth place in the West. They're creeping in on fourth place Phoenix, too, thanks to the Coyotes heartbreaking loss against the Stars.
Meanwhile, fans in St. Louis went home early. Nothing to see here, folks. Just keep moving.
